The Delta State Children paliament has been inaugurated to legistate on issue which violate the right of a child.
The inauguration which took place at the Prof Chike Edozie Secretariat drew participants from primary and secondary schools from the 25 councils of the state.
Master Emmanuel Udoka who emerged the speaker after due test and oral examinations agitated the need for government to look into the plight of less Privileged children in the society
Master Udoka promised that together with the members of his paliament , would enact laws that will prevent early child marriage, harmful traditional practices on children as well as improve on policy's and programmes that would promote the right of the DELTA Child.
He also promised, to sensentaize parents and wards on the importance of education, and the dangers of female genital mutilation.
others who spoke urged government at all levels to join hands with the children's paliament to legislate on policies and programmes that would promote the child right act.They called for the rescue and returned of out of school girls due to pregnancy, poverty or other related factors to continue with their education.
Other issues of discuss were to rewrite societal wrong and sensitize pupils and Students on the dangers of examination malpractices
The Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs Community and Social Development Mrs Flora Alatan represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas emphasized on the need to identify existing programmes and policies that relate to protecting the rights of children, as to effectively address issues confronting them
She assured the Delta state children's paliament of governments support stressing that the Child right act has long been domesticated and signed into law by the state government inorder for Deltan children to be given their right of place in the society
