Ashoro X- rays activities of DELTA LIFE- ND Project

 The Life ND Project Under the Supervision  State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources has x-rayed the activities of the Agency from it's inception till date.

The life ND State Project Co ordinator Mr Collins Ashoro gave an overview of the workings of the agency while speaking with journalist in Asaba.

Mr Ashoro said, life ND is targeted at enhancing the Nation's economic challenge by  engaging youth within the ages of 18 to 35, stressing that it operates in nine states of the Niger-Delta Region, with Delta State  as one of the pilot state.

He noted that, there are  10 participating LGA, engaged in the  first phase.


 The State life ND  project coordinator said over 397 individual enterprises was established in Cassava Production/processing, Oil Palm Processing, Fish Production, Poultry Production  and homestead vegetable gardens.

 
He noted that funds have been disbursed as stipends, seed capital, working capital and service charge to Incubators and Incubatees

Mr Ashoro said life ND  Project have mainstream areas; to  includes Nutrition, Environmental and Climate Change as well as Financial Inclusion and
 Awareness creation.
According to him, Delta State LIFE-ND Project has recorded a total of 1,220 since it's Inception against 4,250 for the Project’s life cycle,
these beneficiaries are categorized into producers, processors and service enterprises in line with the value chain.

He said the state has a total of 790 producers, 220 processors and 210 service enterprises with
521  male youth, 601  female feed youth, 92 - female feed household and 6 -Persons living with disabilities were beneficiaries

The Project coordinate of life ND said the project  has created awareness and advocacy  to 10 selected schools, established with School Gardens,

Mr Ashoro said over  90 homestead vegetable gardens for 90 beneficiaries have been established across  10 LGAs and has reached 90% level of completion with mentoring of the beneficiaries on  best practices


While for vegetable production and land holding on land preparation, planting and maintenance of the gardens comprising of cucumber, pumpkin, pepper and okro in the land size of 50 by100ft per incubatee.
