Women Affairs Ministry, Evacuates destitutes and mentally challenged from streets

The State Government has evacuated 15 mentally challenged person and 3 other male destributes from  major streets of Asaba the Delta state capital.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Women Affairs Community and Social Development Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas said she was dissatisfied by the way ,Asaba the state capital was litered with destitutes and mentally challenged persons.

The  Ministry's staff under the supervision of the Permanent Secretary  evacuated destributes from the  interbua roundabout, the pedestrian bridge by summit junction, summit road, under the new fly over bridge and the major Nnebisi road.

She called the authorities in charge of sanitation to help look into the sanitation issues in areas were the mentally challenged persons and destitute had made their home.

Mrs Agas noted that the 15 mentally challenged would be taken to different healing homes for treatment while the 3 young male would be handed over to the police for on ward proceeding to the family court.

The permanent Secretary Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas also rescued a toddler and a 5 year old girl exposed to danger by their Parents

The PS  noted that the child right act frowned at  situations were parents leave their children to wonder the streets.She noted that if the trend was not checked early , pcould led to breeding young criminal that could pose treat to the society.
 
In an interview, the 3 young males said they sell, beg arms and clear windshield for drivers.
