Rev. Canon Leslie Ogbewe retirees at 70

Giving thanks is an attitude only grateful person's can exhibit. It was on this note that Reverend Canon Leslie Ogbewe gave thanks to God on his retirement as a Reverend Canon and birthday anniversary at 70 at the Anglicans Church of transfiguration Okpanam in Oshimili North local government area of the Delta state. The event attracted the former Bishop of Asaba Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt Revd Justus Mogekwu and his wife, the former head of service sir Okey Ofili, friends, relatives and well wishers. In a sermon delivered at the retirement and Thanksgiving service the Bishop of the Anglican diocese Right Reverend Kingsley Obuh who spoke on what he titled "the end of a matter" said the end of a thing is better than the beginning. The clergyman while describing Reverend Canon Leslie Ogbewe said he is an icon,a man of many parts ,an enigma of a personality, and stressed that he started as a young man who fully dedicated his life to God. According to him, Reverend Canon Leslie Ogbewe served as a public servant,a Broadcaster, knight of Saint Christopher and rose through the ranks of recognition and was ordained as a Reverend Canon describing him as a man of integrity with the ability to lead whenever he is called to serve. Right Reverend Obuh said Reverend Canon Leslie looks 59 as against 70 years and noted that a good wife was a blessing from the lord. He described Dame patient Ogbewe as a wife of his youth and commended her for being resilient, patience and dedication in joining her husband in the service of God, adding that some men had married women who destroy them. The event featured a special thanksgiving service as well as special choir rendition by the women and youths. Guest were later treated to a reception which was well attended, while the event also witness cutting of cake .
