The people of Aliboba Community , in Agbor , Ika South Local government area has decried the devastating effect of flood which has claimed lives.
Some residents of the area who spoke with News Tribe Communications online media said for the past three years , they have been faced with the fears of not being swept away by the flood any time it rains
They recalled that a year or two ago three lives were lost to the flood and appealed to the state and local government as well as Non governmental organization to come to their aid before the community gets completely submerged by flood
According to them, many residents have been rendered homeless due to the flood the few person's left in community could not access their home as the only palliative measures that was put in place could not reduced the devastating effect of the erosion
They said that they resulted to the use of sand filed cement bags to block the flood from getting into their buildings
The affected flood victims said the measures adopted by the community seems not to be effective due to the high current of the flood waters flowing in from the major Uromi Express way, through UBE Road which has created deeper gullies in some areas of the community
Resident have said the old Uromi road which served as an alternative route for vehicular movements in cases of traffic jam as been completely rendered in passable due to the gullies created by erosion.
