Delta State Government (DTSG) has been commended for its unwavering commitment to the transformation of the education system in the state.
The Principal of West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah, gave the commendaton in Asaba shortly after receiving an award from the Anioma Community Newspaper, the Publishers of the Anioma News .
Mrs. Ogeah noted that the state government had performed well in providing conducive learning environment for students, but that more needed to be done .
She said that she was overwhelmed by the recognition of her efforts in improving the academic standard of students of the various schools she was the head, including her present school, West End Mixed Secondary School.
While saying that West End Mixed Secondary had recently been adjudged as the only public secondary school among the best 30 public and private schools in the State, Mrs. Ogeah reiterated her resolve to impact more positively on the students and the school in general.
The orincipal appreciated Anioma Community Newspaper for finding her worthy of the honour, saying that her teachers had been very supportive by keying into her reforms to achieve positive results.
Mrs. Ogeah opined that teachers should embrace more of counseling of the children to mentor them on the Importance of taking their studies serious.
In their separate remarks, some of her colleagues, who spoke , including the Vice Principal (Academics), Mrs. Omodoro Gloria Oritseweyinmi; the Vice Principal (Administration), Mrs. Chinwe Chilaka; Mrs. Ashikodi Theresa, Mrs. Ike-Nwagwo and Mrs. Igbojinwaekwu Priscilla, described the principal as a mother.
They said that the award was well deserved, considering her achievements in tackling social vices among students, adding that she always operated open door policy and carried them along in the scheme of things.
Presenting the award to the Principal, the publishers of the Anioma Community Newspaper, represented by Adoenu Comfort Egovin, said that the Excellent Performance Merit Award was in recognition of Mrs. Ogeah's outstanding contributions to the uplifting of the school and students at large as well as the overall development of humanity.
