A one day sensitization programme for 2021 and 2022 seminar on Sports and Agriculture has been implemented to promote basis education in primary and Secondary schools.

The sensitization programme organizated by the State Universe Basic Education Board,held  in Asaba attracted Resource person's from the Ministry of Agriculture, State Sports Commission, School Heads and teachers for Government owned Schools.


The Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board Sir Unini said the  programme was to educate participates 
develop and underscore the significance of sports  and Agriculture in  Schools.

He shared insights on how extracurricular activities could contribute to a student's holistic growth, discipline, and resilience in the current economic challenge.

According to him,The federal Government through the collaborative effort of UBEC and SUBEBs decided to reactivate sporting and Agricultural activities in School that owns large expands of land with a view to accommodate diverse learning needs in Agriculture and Sports for students and pupils 

Sir Unini noted that since 2019 two percent of fund was being set aside for training  while he also advised on the need for re introduction of inter house sport in schools, as many schools had abandoned the inclusion of inter house in their curriculum.

The Permanent Secretary SUBEB appreciated the governor Honourable sheriff Oborevwori for the approval of funds for the programme.

The Director Academic services Mrs Francisca Okpeh said the programme was to provide  strong foundation in basic education, emphasizing the critical role it would play in shaping the nations economy growth.

Speakers from the Agricultural  and sports sectors took the stage to inspire the audience  on best practices.
