A two day capacity building workshop for Secretaries and Supervisors of local government Councils in the State has been organized by the directorate of local government affairs in colaboration with Macestre consultancy enterprises, in Asaba.
Declaring open the workshop the Permanent Secretary of the Directorate Mrs Anastasia Nwanze stated the need for adequate training of Local government Secretaries and Supervisors noting that the triming was imperative considering their role for grass root governance and development.
The Chairman on the event,Delta State, former head of Service Sir Okey Ofili said local government stands as a bridge between the grassroot and leadership in governance and noted that the Secretaries and Supervisor's should see themselves as trust worthy and reliable assistant in managing the local government administration
and advised them to always represent their local government in good light, irrespective of the challenges and difficulties that may confront them.
A retired Senior Civil Servants in the State Mr Frank Apokwu who spoke on what he titled "The place of good governance in local government operations said local government should take primary responsibility of it's Administration by administering skilled knowledge, needed to execute policies and programmes, that would initiate progress.
Speakers at the event, were Retired Head of personal Management at the local government level Mr Frank Atube and The State Co ordinator, quality leadership quest Dr Ezekiel Ehiaghe delivered lectures on "The imperative for harmony among stakeholders in the council". As well as

The workshop featured question and answer session as well as presentation of certificate to Participates. the workshop has its theme has strengthening the role of Secretaries of local government and Supervisors of Administrators an advocate for good governance"
