The Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro has described the immediate Past Director of Examination and Standard in the Ministry, Mr. Sunday Egomagwuna as a reliable and dependable person in civil service and in the society in general.
Oghoro stated this in Asaba the Delta State Capital, during the retirement ceremony of Mr. Sunday Egomagwuna who took a bow from the Delta State Public /Civil Service after 35 years of meritorious service.
He said that Mr. Egomagwuna was humble and hardworking , adding that he contributed greatly to the State Government as a thorough bred education officer.
Oghoro, who chaired the occasion, said that retirement was not a punishment but a gate way to the society, stressing that Mr. Egomagwuna was a committed and successful civil servant.
Speaking with newsmen, the Chief Inspector of Education for Burutu Local Government Area, Mr. Ochuko Omosomwofa and the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) for Uvwie Local Government Area, Mrs. Vera Asini said that the retired Director was a transparent and friendly person .
Mr. Ochuko Omosomwofa , specifically stated that Mr. Egomagwuna was always ready to deliver on any assignment and carried people along in the scheme of things.
They stressed the need for civil servants to associate with people around them.
Asini, who said that Mr. Egomagwuna was accessible and has impacted positively on the job as an educationist, describing him as an accomplished civil servant.
In their remarks, the Chairman of Delta State Accountants Forum , Mr. Charles Isiaye and a retired School Principal in the State, Mrs. Ogbogo Rachel advised civil servants not to be afraid of retirement but should embrace it wholeheartedly.
Mr. Isiaye , noted that at the point of retirement, many civil servants expressed fears of what the future holds for them , while stating that Mr. Egomagwuna started preparing for his retirement long ago .
Responding, Mr. Egomagwuna said that he was happy to retire in good health after 35 years in civil service and appreciated the Delta State Government for giving him the platform to serve.
Mr. Egomagwuna advised the younger generation of civil servants to put the interest of the job first and shun love for money and respect the authority at all times for them to have successful career.
