The Delta State government has urged Orphanages in the state to create a chapter that will enable them liaise with the National body of the Association.

The Delta State government has urged Orphanages in the state to create a chapter that will enable them liaise with the National body of the Association.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of women affairs Community and Social Development Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas Stated this at a meeting held with operators of Orphanages in Delta State.



Mrs Agas said the gesture would enable operators of Orphanages at the state level to create an effective working relationship with the national body.

She stressed the need for a good working relationship between operators of Orphanages and the Officers of women Affairs ministry.

Mrs Agas emphasized that any child that has been in the Orphanage for a period of time Should be sent back to their families stressing that any  child that  could  not be reunited with their families, the orphanage should send a report to the women affairs ministry.

The Permanent Secretary stressed the need for the authorization 
of a care order from the Ministry before any  child could  be adopted while noting that the Orphanage is a stop gap measure.


Mrs Agas said Children should be under proper family supervision to avoid certain challenges because at age 15,16 and above they be come difficult control. 

She called on the operators of Orphanages not to give conflicting information to the ministry and persons willing to adopt.
