A One-Day step down training on the use of National Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Dashboard has been held in Asaba the Delta State Capital.
The permanent Secretary ministry of Ministry of women affairs community and social development, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas said the training became necessary with a view to arresting the trend of gender based violence and to protect individual well-being, as well as societal progress, and equality.
Mrs Agas said government was determined, to ensure effective utilization of the National gender based violence GVB dashboard to equip participants with skills to monitor, analyze, and respond to GBV incidents.
According to her, Best practices for data quality assurance, would enables accuracy, and protect survivor privacy.
She said in 2015 violence against persons prohibition act was enacted and has been domesticated in Delta State to stop the humanization of the right of persons
Mrs Olivia Akponehwe who delivered a lecture on GBV Awareness and sensitization for social welfare officer said the essence of the training was to get welfare officers abreast with GBV issuance of the National dashboard by the federal government to eradicate sexual based violence
She said the objective of training was to have an understanding of GBV, its forms , causes and the person's at risk as well as effect, prevention,laws and how to assist survival of GBV
