The World Charity Day , is observed every September 5th each year The global theme for this year’s celebration is " Global Solidarity to eradicate poverty," in a bid to be part of the event as stipulated by United Nations. The Delta State government has ensured vulnerable persons of inclusion in Government policies and programmes The Commissioner for humanitarian affairs, community services and girl child entrepreneurship development Ms Orode Uduaghan Stated this in Asaba, at an interactive session to mark the World international day of Charity. Ms Uduaghan said the lively hood of vulnerable persons in the society would be protected by the government. According to her, Delta State,is committed to humanitarian services and would implement initiatives that will address pressing issues such as poverty alleviation, access to education, healthcare, and disaster relief. The commissioner humanitarian affairs said governments goal is to create a more equitable and compassionate society where no one is left behind. Ms Uduaghan urged organisation to extend a helping hand to those in need in order to foster a society that is characterized with empathy and care. She said the global celebration approved by the United Nations is to emphasize the need to bridge the welfare gap of the most vulnerable in the society She stated that ministry under her watch will collaborate with relevant ministries and stakeholders in government and outside government through the provision of livelihood support programs to vulnerable households across the state. Present at the event were the Permanent Secretary, of the ministry Mr. Wilson Chukwuka, Director Humanitarian Support Services Sir Stanley Rapu , the Director Community Support Services Mrs. Thecla Agamah and Mr Anthony Ezeadiefe: Director Planning Research and Statistics.
