Global Family Day : NAWOJ South South calls for unity and harmony amongst south south states.

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, South South zone has called for concerted efforts in ensuring peaceful coexistence among states in the South South, as the world marks this year's Global Family Day.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Zonal Vice Chairperson, South South, Comrade Stella Macaulay and Zonal Secretary, Comrade Eunice Emeyazia.

The statement said the Global Family day, which is also known as World Peace Day, has presented another opportunity to make or renew commitments to spreading a message of peace and unity, irrespective of differences in religion, culture, tribe or race

The Women Journalists urged families, schools, churches,political parties, pressure groups to imbibe and promote the culture of peace in all its activities, as that would go a long way in building a society free from violence.
 
The statement commended the United Nations General Assembly for setting aside the first day of January every year, to celebrate the global family day, noting that it is a good way to start the year off right and to foster peace, unity, and harmony among people.

The South South women Journalists said the World has now become a global village in which everyone is a family, hence leaders in the family units, groups, communities, states and the nation at large should develop strategies to nip in the bud, any existing conflict in their spheres of contact, and make conscious efforts to build peace and unity, for a better society.
