The leadership of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) , Delta State chapter has described the reports emanating from the former South /South Vice President of NAPPS, Dr. Ochuko Akpeme alleging that the National body of the Association suspended the Delta State Chairman of NAPPS, Mrs. Precious Nwanne Young , as baseless and untrue.
A statement from the State Chairman of NAPPS, Mrs. Precious Nwanne Young said that purported suspension was a figment of the imagination of Dr. Akpeme who she explained had already served his tenure as Vice President of South /South zone of the Association and wanted tenure elongation which she noted was unconstitutional.
The NAPPS Chairman asserted that it was unanimously agreed that another part of the zone should be allowed to produce the Vice President, adding that as a stakeholder in the Association there was need for her to identify with the side of equity and fairness hence the entire leadership of the Association in the state supported that power should shift to other part of the zone so that when it was time for Delta State all the states in the zone would lend their support.
She reminded Mr. Ochuko that she was duly elected and that no single individual could remove any elected EXCO member except with a vote of no confidence passed by 2/3 majority of the members in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding the Association, stressing that NAPPS was not a one man affair as being demonstrated by Dr. Akpeme, whose tenure as South/South VP had expired .
Mrs. Young also said that the same way NAPPS voted for Dr. Akpeme during his time was the same way she was voted , emphasizing that Dr. Akpeme was not part of the leadership of NAPPS in Delta state as far of Unified Examinations is concerned and told him that his personal interests would not cause any misunderstanding in the leadership of NAPPS in the state.
The statement lauded the immediate past State Chairman of NAPPS, Amb. (Dcn.) Monday Onoharigho Ifoghere for his prompt response to Dr. Akpeme's message, saying that NAPPS in the state was one united family.
It could be recalled that the South/South BOT Chairman has advised that peace should reign in Delta State NAPPS and that the State Chairman, Mrs. Young be allowed to remain in office as chairman, having been officially elected and inaugurated since she has not committed any offence .
