12 persons, have been arrested including a fake pastor for various criminal offences ranging from kidnapping, cultism, murder and illegally drug deals at various locations with in State.
The Delta State Police commissioner, Abaniwonda Olufemi while parading the Suspects at the command's Headquarters in Asaba said due to the kidnapping in Ughelli and Environs, Police special team was detailed to work in synergy with the newly posted DPO in Ughelli Police Division to fish
kidnappers, and other criminals
The C.P Olufemi explained that on April 8, 2024, the operatives of in special intelligence squad stormed one of the hotels in Udu LGA and arrested a notorious kidnapper.
He said the arrest suspect led to the recovery of a One Pump action loaded with four live cartridges, one Beretta pistol and three rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
The C.P Olufemi added that a 17 year -old Suspected fake his kidnap. demanding one million naira (#1,000,000) ransom and was later
arrested on March 20, 2024, at about 1600hours, by the DPO Agbor, in Okhumera quarters, Agbor-obi.
The Police boss added that on the April 6, 2024, at about 1715 hours,
operatives of Eagle-Net Special squad arrested a 53 year Sunday Eze with 375 bottles of CSP Codeine, 44 bottles of CSC Codeine, 120 sachets of Tramadol and 33 sachets of SWINOL.
According to the CP, the Police were on routine patrol along Asaba-Agbor expressway Isele-Asagba, when they flagged down a white Toyota Hiace Bus driven by the male Suspect.
The police commissioner CP Abaniwonda Olufemi further said one
Ogwu Endurance ‘m was arrested for allegedly raping a 23 year old Student of Delta State University, Abraka.
According to him, the team laid an ambushed and arrested the Suspect with two single barrel cut-to-size guns.
Meanwhile ,the leader of Anioma Security Net Watch, Mr James Peter (aka) Synergy has been reportedly killed by Operatives of Delta State Vigilante Operating within Owaeke, Emuhu and adjoining Communities in Ika South local government area of Delta State.
According to sources, they were killed on April 11, at the camp of the herdsmen when the vigilantes were in search of those allegedly kidnapped, the previous days.
The sources further hinted that the vigilantes invaded the camp following the incessant kidnappings and subsequent killing of persons by the Suspected herdsmen kidnappers operating in the areas.
A member of Delta State Livestock Committee, representing Delta North, Mr Ujene Matthew Ossai, had condemned the killings and advised Security Operatives to operate within the ambit of the Law.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.
