CENTENARIAN , REBECCA UCHEMEFUNA CROWNED ADA-ISI OF UMUEZEGBE FAMILY IN OKPANAM

A centenarian, Mrs. Rebecca Uchemefuna, has ascended to the throne of the Ada-Isi of Umuezegbe family in Amachai Quarters, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.


The epoch making event, which took place on April 20, 2024 at her Umuezegbe village, attracted individuals from all walks of life both from within and outside Okpanam community.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Ada-Isi of Umuezegbe family, Mrs. Rebecca Uchemefuna,  nee Ogana, thanked God for numerous blessings, especially for the longevity of life  , adding that it was a thing of joy to see the day come through.

Accompanied to her Umuezegbe pathernal family by her children and her husband's family led by Ogbueshi Michael Uchemefuna , popularly known as Ogbueshi Monic and the entire Umuobiajie where she is being married, Mrs. Uchemefuna said that she would operate open door policy and carry everybody along in the scheme of things.

While soliciting the support of all sons and daughters of Umuezegbe family, particularly the women  she would lead and Amachai Quarters at large to enable her administration to succeed, she appreciated everyone for the show of love and support to her in one of her most joyous moments in her life .

In an interview with journalists , a foremost community leader in Amachai, Ogbueshi Patrick Igbenoba ,  Mr. Chukwura Amor ,  Mrs. Okadi Winnie,Mr. Boniface Egiongi, Sir Godwin Ezeh, Mrs. Benedicta Okudishu , Ogbueshi Uda Ugbe and Mr. Ifeanyi Ogana , who is the celebrant's nephew stated that the centenarian was a kindhearted,  straightforward , God fearing and unassuming woman.

Ogbueshi Igbenoba and Mr. Amor , specifically explained that Mrs. Uchemefune has fulfilled all the necessary requirements for coronation as Ada-Isi such as the provision of tubers of yam for the women and elders  and life goat in accordance with the tradition and culture of Okpanam community.

Also speaking, some children of the celebrant, Mrs. Theresa Arthur Udofia and Evangelist Patricia Okolo said that their mother impacted positively on their lives and the society in general.

Mrs . Udofia and Evangelist Patricia Okolo stated that the Ada-Isi coronation of their mother as the oldest woman in Umuezegbe was only made possible by God , stressing that God had preserved her life not only to become the Ada-Isi but also to have attained the age of 100 years on earth.

They described their mother as a disciplinarian, God fearing and humble woman, emphasizing that she guided her children and those came around her in the right direction just as they said that the celebrant was a woman of substance.
