The Delta State Governor, Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, has visited Okuama community in ughelli south local government area with an assurance for the safe return of the indigenes who fled the community due to crisis relating to the killing of 17 soldiers on March 14 2024
The Governor, was accompanied by Commander 63 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Unachukwu Ugochukwu, and top government functionaries
He reiterated that innocent citizens would not be made to suffer for what they knew nothing about.
Speaking to journalists at Okuama, Governor Oborevwori said there was need for due process in setting the crisis stressing that the people involved have since been buried and the detained King released.
He reiterate Mr President's promise saying that innocent person would not be victimised as a result of the crisis as all hand is on deck to ensure peaceful co existence.
Governor Oborevwori stressed the need for reintegration of the indigenes of Okuoma back to their community and sued for cooperation between the military and the Okuoma people.
He condole with those who loss their family members as a result of the crisis describing it as a big loss and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the unrepairable loss
The Governor noted that his administration would do everything possible to ensure that the Okuoma community and Delta State in general leave above dispute that could emanate to the destruction of lives and properties
The Governor while expressing appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff for their cooperation said in the absence of peace there will be meaningful development .
