Three children have been rescued as fire gutted a-storey building at the Obi Onuorah Crescent back of Okowe plaza in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
A visit to the scene, reviewed that the roof and the two apartments was razed down by inferno and property worth million of naira was damaged.
However, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertain as at the time of filling this report
A widow and mother of four children, Mrs Gloria Sado wept profusely and appealed to Nigerians to come to her aid.
She said she came back from the market on 16th Thursday 2024 May at about 9pm and met the house on fire
Narrating the story she said fire service came but complained there was no water, in the van to carry out their operation, and their entire property was razed to ashes
A neighbor, Mr Simon Amalimen and father of two said, he heard people calling for help and noticed that the fire from the neighbour's apartment and they immediately went in, to rescue the children, from the apartment before building was razed down.
He said before the third fire service arrived, the two apartments and property have been completely burnt down due to shortage of water.
The victims are currently homeless as sympathizers were said to have buy clothes for them.
An official of the State Fire Service , name withheld , confirmed the incident.
