Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has asserted that the Ministry under his watch would continue to render more effective service delivery in line with the rules and regulations guiding Ministry of Primary Education.
Dr. Ashibogwu stated this in his office in Asaba when the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor and the Chief Executive Officer in charge of SERVICOM , Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon and his team timely-exposure-of-students-to-sports.
He said that the Ministry rendered services indirectly, adding that teachers that were under the supervision of the Ministry rendered services directly to the pupils.
The Primary Education Commissioner told the SERVICOM team that the Ministry also rendered services to communities on the pupils and the general public.
Dr. Ashibogwu stated that the Ministry was very conscious of the fact that the codes guiding its activities must be strictly adhered to at all times, recalling that the essence of SERVICOM was to guarantee timely, effective abd transparent service delivery.
He commended the Policy Adviser to the Governor and the SERVICOM team for their efforts at reawakening the consciousness of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on the need for them to ensure good governance through their service delivery.
He stressed the need to reinforce the Ministry's internal control system in order the be strong so to render services that were expected, noting that when the internal control system was weak it would give room for corruption and unnecessary compromise.
Earlier, the SERVICOM Boss , Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon said that monitoring and evaluation of the services by the MDAs was key to SERVICOM, informing the Commissioner and his team in the Ministry that SERVICOM was not a new concept.
Funkekeme, who stated that they were in the Ministry to hand over SERVICOM document to the Commissioner and reinvigorate SERVICOM , said that SERVICOM was established to monitor services in the MDAs to ascertain whether the services were good and acceptable.
The Senior Policy Adviser said that the document be circulated to key service providers in the Ministry, adding that when services were not tendered timely and not fairly rendered such services were not acceptable .
Funkekeme added that any service that was not transparently and effectively rendered was not service.
He explained that SERVICOM was introduced in Nigeria by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004 and was domesticated in Delta State in 2009 through the issuance of an Executive Order duely signed the the then Governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan .
