The Delta State Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Mrs. Precious N. Young, has described the intervention of the elders of the Association in the state and other relevant stakeholders in resolving the crisis between the leadership of the Association in the state and Dr. Ochuko Akpeme as a welcome development.
Young , who stated this while speaking with newsmen after the crisis was resolved, noted that the role of the elder was pivotal in the reconciliation of the crises .
She said that nothing could compromise the place of unity of members of the Association in achieving their common goal , adding that she embraced the resolutions wholeheartedly.
The Chairman, however, lauded the elders and other members of the Association for the gesture and restated her unwavering commitment to sustain effective leadership just as she called for more collaboration with all members of the Association.
Meanwhile , the resolution of the crises was contained in a statement made available to newsmen.
According to the statement signed by the State Secretary of NAPPS, Amb. Dr. (Mrs.) Rose Obi , some prominent members, regarded as 'elders' of the Association played key role in uniting the State Chairman, Mrs. Precious Young , Dr. Ochuko Akpeme and the immediate past chairman, Deacon Monday Ifoghere.
The statement reads in part " The report of that State Elders on the crisis rocking NAPPS, Delta State Chapter in particular and NAPPS Nigeria in general, was given to the house . The concerned elders, Dr. Ukeredi, Hon. Erhimu and Chief Igbogine have spoken to the concerned parties, Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, Mrs. P. N Young and Amb. Dcn. Monday Ifoghere, resolved and advised as follows:
1. That NAPPS is bigger than any single individual.
2. That NAPPS, Delta State could not afford to have internal war , knowing where we are coming from and the special environment we find ourselves in.
3. That all offences and misgivings should be forgiven.
4. That Delta NAPPS should distance themselves from the present crisis rocking the leadership of NAPPS in both South /South Zone and the national level by staying neutral pending the outcome of the court cases , meaning that Delta State NAPPS is neither for Otubela NEC group nor for the BOT NEC group.
5. That the parties agreed that status quo should remain and honour should be given to whom honour is due .
6. That Mrs. P. N Young remains the State Chairman of NAPPS in Delta State while Dr. Ochuko Akpeme's membership should be restored back to the state and the various platforms and that Dr. Akpeme remains a leader and stakeholder in NAPPS in Delta State.
