Nigeria Customs Service, intercepts illegal goods shipped through Lagos Port.

Over Seven containers carrying expired pharmaceuticals, 12,000 pieces of cutlasses, machetes as well as 4,129 package of frozen chicken have been intercepted by the Nigeria customs authorities at Lagos The Command Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, while speaking with Journalist said other items include 368 jumbo bales of used second hand clothing, saying the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of these seized items stood at N292. 244 million. He said the gesture was in fulfillment of Customs policy thrust at ensuring zero tolerance in smuggling at the Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service. He stressed that the intercepted seven containers , fell short of the importation prohibition guidelines. He disclosed that the command intercepted these containers adding that the expired drugs were imported from India, the cutlass and machete came from China while the frozen chicken imported from Turkiyé.
