By Magnus Emuji

As part of measures to appreciate God for a  hitch free and successful  academic season , the management, staff and students of Westend Mixed Secondary School, Asaba led by the school principal, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah , have carried out a thanksgiving service for being at their best .
The thanksgiving service, which was  held at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Asaba was attended by the staff and students of the school as well as other stakeholders in the education sector, particularly some school principals.

Speaking at the event, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Augusta Ogeah described the thanksgiving service as the first of its kind to be marked by the school,  adding that it was a good thing to thank God for the gift of life and other achievements recorded by the school.
Mrs. Ogeah explained that thanksgiving was a strategic approach  not only to  appreciate God for all that He  has done , but also as  an invitation for Him to do more .

She lauded the  staff and students of Westend Mixed Secondary School  being at their best in terms of punctuality, neatness and orderly conduct at the service, stressing that she was proud of them .

In his sermon, the officiating priest , Rev. Fr. Peter Mobuogwu , whose Bible reading was taken from the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 6 vs 30-34,  titled "The Good Shepherd" , emphasized the essence of service.

He admonished all to be like the Good Shepherd, Christ Jesus.

The end of the Sermon, ushered in the Thanksgiving window, where the staff and  students of the school,  friends and well-wishers came out in their numbers to thank God for His devine mercies and protection throughout the just concluded academic year, while trusting in His Grace for safety and protection through the holidays and the next academic session.
