The new Iyase of Obodogba Quarters, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Ogbueshi Emeka Dunkwu, has assured the good people of Obodogba Quarters that he will give them effective leadership.
Ogbueshi Dunkwu stated this in Okpanam after ascending to the throne at the palace of Ugoani of Okpanam, HRM Dr. Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu.
He said that he was happy to have ascended to the stool of Iyase of Obodogba and appreciated the Ugoani of Okpanam Kingdom , the Diokpa Isi of Obodogba and his entire kinsmen for finding him worthy of the title.
Ogbueshi Dunkwu, popularly known as Ajaja, stated that he would not disappoint the people of Obodogba and Okpanam ar large, stressing that the position of Iyase has afforded him another good platform to contribute more towards the growth and development of Obodogba community.
The Iyase of Obodogba urged the people to love themselves and eschew actions that could lead to unnecessary division, adding that it was important for them to be peaceful and united at all times.
Ogbueshi Dunkwu, used the opportunity to call on elders and leaders in the community to intervene in the leadership of Obodogba youth under interim committee and proffer solutions for the betterment of Obodogba community.
The visibly elated Iyase asserted that if the Interim committee of Obodogba youth had existed beyond its stipulated tenure, the leaders in the community should evolve ways of conducting election in order to have new executives pilot the youth affairs of the community.
Earlier, the Ugoani of Okpanam Kingdom, HRM, Dr. Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu said that every traditional title was a call for more service, adding that as Iyase of Obodogba, he would be working closely with Ogbueshi Emeka Dunkwu to move Obodogba community forward.
He urged Ogbueshi Dunkwu to always exhibit the good qualities of Iyase and be in things that would bring development to Obodogba and Okpanam in general just as he prayed God to give him the wisdom to succeed.
Also speaking, the elder brother to Iyase of Obodogba, Ogbueshi (Hon.) Paul Chukwuemeka Dunkwu said that it was a thing of joy for one of the Dunkwus and his younger brother to emerge as the new Iyase of Obodogba , recalling that even before their father died some years ago, Ogbueshi Emeka Dunkwu was being called Iyase .
He advised his younger brother, the Iyase of Obodogba to continue to follow the right path , saying that he possessed good qualities of leadership just as he hinted that in Obodogba tradition in Okpanam, Iyase is second to the Diokpa Isi of Obodogba Quarters.
