Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is determined at reducing the state's debt profile

The Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been accused of spreading misinformation about the state's debt management measures.

In a statement issued by the Secretary  Delta state  PDP Egnr. Dan Ossai   says the APC attempted to downplay Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's efforts at  reducing the state's debt profile and ensuring financial stability.

However, the APC's criticism is hypocritical given their own mismanagement of the national economy. Since 2015, the APC-led federal government has recklessly borrowed, escalating the national debt stock from N7 trillion to over N90 trillion. This has resulted in 97% of Nigeria's national revenue being devoted to debt servicing, leaving little for states and local governments.

Governor Oborevwori has taken a responsible approach, reducing the state's debt profile by N180 billion and saving over N205 billion through financial efficiency. His administration has not borrowed a dime in almost 15 months, despite financial requirements for infrastructure projects and social welfare investments.

The APC's criticism is seen as a shameless attempt to distract from their own failures. The party wants the state to be run like the national economy, which they have mismanaged since 2015. However, Governor Oborevwori is determined to manage Delta into a debt-free state, focusing on managing the state economy within its means.

The PDP, Delta State, stands by Governor Oborevwori's achievements in financial management and his commitment to a debt-free Delta. The party will not be swayed by the APC's charade and will continue to support responsible governance in the state.
