The Delta State Government (DTSG) , has been urged to leverage private/external partnership and philanthropic support to supplement primary and basic education funding in the state.
A Non Governmental Organization, Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) stated this in its policy brief presented to education managers in the state during education summit it organized in Asaba, the State Capital.
Presenting the policy document, the State Coordinator of CSACEFA, Augusta Keneboh said that the state government needed to improve more on the condition of teaching and learning environment so as to attract the support of donor agencies .
Keneboh said that government should establish a multi-stakeholder education financing committee to coordinate and monitor funding efforts and increase transparency and accountability in education funding through audits and public reporting.
She further stressed the need for government to set up committee to review, revise and upgrade primary and basic education curriculum as well as rehabilitate , upgrade and construct infrastructure that would promote safe school to enhance quality education.
Keneboh also enjoined the state government to continue to promote inclusive education by constructing ramps and hand rails I'm schools for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and create a sub budget line for primary/basic education.
The CSACEFA Boss explained the responsibility of NGOs, particularly CSACEFA was to facilitate community engagement for mindset reorientation to protect school infrastructure, monitor and track education budget implementation for increased transparency and accountability.
She said that CSACEFA would always advocate for education financing to achieve SDGs 4 , adding that communitie should protect school facilities in their domain at all times and report on the status of education and learning with partnership approach in their areas.
