Community Based Organisations (CBOs) working under a Civil Society Organization for Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) project in Delta State have been called upon to redouble their commitment in ensuring that the the goal of ACOMIN is achieved.
The State Programme Officer, ACOMIN, Sir. Austen Uwede stated this in Asaba during their monthly coordination meeting (MCM)
He said that the meeting was aimed at reviewing the activities of the CBOs in the various communities/facilities of implementation in the State for the month of August, 2024. The activities of the advocacy team, their challenges and the way forward.
Sir Uwede urged the CBOs to make meaningful impact in the communities and reminded them that their responsibility was to support health care service delivery in the facilities of implementation, adding that ACOMIN interfaced with government and other non-governmental organisations with a view to improving the services of the health care facilities in the State.
He commended their ACOMIN national office and other stakeholders in the state for their support, stressing that officials from their national office were around for supportive/supervisory visit geared at improving the capacity of the CBOs.
Earlier, the State Chairman of ACOMIN, Pastor Greg Sifo and the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Delta State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Charles Eboka appreciated ACOMIN national office and the CBOs for their efforts towards delivering the objective of ACOMIN just as he told the Community Based Organisations to interface with the people in their various local government areas to ensure the success of the project.
Sifo, who lauded the visiting ACOMIN national officers for finding time to come to the state to build their capacity, said that it was gratifying to observe that Delta State top among the States implementing the ACOMIN project .
Dr. Eboka said that the meeting was a continuous enlightenment on what the state was doing in malaria eradication, in addition to other thematic disease areas, such as HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis amongst others.
The assistant Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of ACOMIN, Mr. Olayinka Peter told the CBOs to adhere to the stipulated guidelines in reporting their activities, emphasizing that they should be detailed in their reporting.
Some of the partners that attended the meeting and delivered goodwill messages included the State Malaria Programme Manager, Ministry of Health, Dr.(Mrs.) Julie Aniah, the National Monitoring and Evaluation Manager of ACOMIN, Lovelyn Agbor-Gabriel and the Chief Imam of Central Mosque, Asaba, Dr.(Alhaji) Yinusa Adekola among others.
