Ashibogwu Underscores Role Of PHE Teachers In Shaping Learners' Lives

Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has described the role of physical and health education teachers  as pivotal in shaping the lives of the learners.

Dr. Ashibogwu made the assertion in Kwale during a-one day capacity building workshop organized by the primary arm of  Ministry of Basic and Secondary for selected physical and health education subject teachers.

He said that their dedication and expertise helped learners in developing essential skills, knowledge and values that would benefit them throughout their lives .

Dr. Ashibogwu, who was represented by the Director of Schools in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Lady Funmi Ighawvota, stated that the workshop was amed at empowering the PHE teachers with innovative strategies and practical techniques to enhance their teaching practices.
The Primary Education Commissioner said that the Ministry would explore several sectors including but not limited to effective lesson planning and delivery, assessment and evaluation methods, technological integration in physical and health education, inclusive education and diversity as well as mental health and wellness.

 He, however, urged them to inspire a new generation of learners who were physically and mentally resilient and equipped to succeed in all aspects of life.
Earlier in her lecture presentation, Dr. (Mrs.) Tayire Favour Okagbare of the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar , noted physical education entailed all round development of individual, adding that as teachers, they were expected to bring about the set objectives in the school curriculum.

Dr. Okagbare , who berated lack of effective implementation of education policies in Nigeria, reminded them that a good teacher would achieve effective teaching through proper classroom management.

She stressed the need for government to increase funding for sports, employ  and train physical and health education teachers in primary and secondary schools, just as she tasked teachers for self development.
