MEDICAL AND HEALTH WORKERS UNION, DELTA STATE CHAPTER, ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE

Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Delta State Council, has elected a new executive to lead the union's affairs for the next four years.

The  7th quadrennial delegate conference held  in Asaba, the Delta State Capital, saw the elections of the  following members, Comrade Okonye Onyemazuwa as Chairman, Comrade Eghworo Vigilant as Vice Chairman, and Comrade Ijedinma Omar Ndidi as Treasurer. 
Comrade Abohwoyere Ogaga emerged as Trustee, while Comrade Tomu Kelekele Kingsley was elected State Auditor, and Comrade Onyagbodor Imoniatake Edward as the State Public Secretary.

The National President, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, represented by Comrade Adetola Balogun, urged the newly elected members to stay committed to the union's aims and objectives in order to take the union to greater heights.

Comrade Minjibir emphasized the importance of capacity-building to union members to ensure they stay informed about the union's rules and regulations. 

He also expressed concern over the current economic hardship and called on all levels of government to implement the proposed minimum wage of seventy thousand naira.

The National Deputy President of the Medical and Health Workers Union, who also serves as the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Goodluck Oforbruku, was represented by the State Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Acrobat Enekhawore described the newly elected State Chairman, Comrade Okonye Onyemazuwa, as a loyal and committed leader dedicated to the union's goals.

In his acceptance speech,the newly elected State Chairman, Comrade Okonye Onyemazuwa thanked the delegates for their trust and assured them that the welfare of union members would remain a top priority in his administration.

Other notable speakers included Delta State Controller of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment , Mrs. Eucharia Ozulumba, the  Delta State Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Charles Enegide, the State Secretary of RATTAWU, Comrade Eddie Ekpri, emphasized the importance of cooperation between union members and the new executive team to ensure the success of the union’s initiatives.

Delegates to the conference expressed confidence in the leadership of Comrade Onyemazuwa and called on the newly elected executive to continue to  advance the union's mission. 
The quadrennial delegate conference, themed : Strengthening Trade Unions for Development, was attended by delegates from the 25 local government areas of Delta State.
