The preliminary stage of the 3rd edition of the 2024 Zenith Bank sponsored Delta Headmasters' Cup Football Competition is currently ongoing across the 25 local government areas in Delta State and the preliminary matches would end on October 11 .
Winners in the preliminary stage of the competition will represent their LGAs at the local government stage of the competition and from the LGA level to the zonal stage.
In some of the matches already decided in the first round of the preliminary stage, Owowha primary school and Iyeye primary school in Ughelli North , it was Owowha primary school 4 goals while Iyeye got 2 goals . The match between Agbarho model primary school and Bavioke Int'l school ended 2 goals to zero in favour of Agbarho model primary school.
Similarly, in Sapele local government area , Oruese primary school was awarded 3 after their opponent, British primary school failed to show up for their match while Ethiopie primary school, Okirighwre beat Ethiope primary school, Amukpe by 4 goals to 2.
At Umutu Mixed Secondary School, Umutu, Ukwuani local government area, the match between Springate NPS Aunty-Lyn Christian NPS ended 3-0 in favour of Springate NPS.
Meanwhile, the result of the match between Our Lady's primary school and Only primary school both in Bomadi local government area indicated that Olu primary school beat their opponent by 2-1 and in Ndokwa East, Ashaka primary school defeated St. Stephen primary school, Ashaka by 1-0 through a work over as Stephen withdrew from the competition.
In Udu local government area, the preliminary match between Owhorode primary school and Otor-Udu primary school ended 5-4 in favour of Owhorode primary school and in Warri North, Ojomba primary school thrashed their opponent, First Baptist primary school 8-0.
The results of the match between Ozoma-Uku primary school, Ashaka and Ogene primary school, Ashaka ended with 3-0 in favour of Ogene primary school while Avweaka primary school and Abraka model primary school played 2-1 in favour of Avweaka primary school in the match that was decided at Abraka Grammar School playground in Ethiope East local government area.
As the schools take go into their second round matches in the preliminary stage of the competition, more results were expected.
